On the occasion of Vietnam Entrepreneurs Day on October 13, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh sent an open letter to businesses around the country. The letter stated that the Vietnamese Government and relevant agencies will step up institutional reform, remove difficulties and obstacles, mobilize resources, and reform administrative procedures, among other measures, to create an open and equal business environment for business development and international integration for entrepreneurs.

On October 11, with the National Assembly Standing Committee agreeing to add three resolutions on specific mechanisms for Hai Phong city and Nghe An and Thua Thien-Hue provinces to the 2021 law and ordinance development program, the draft on the pilot specific mechanism for these three localities will be submitted to the National Assembly (NA) at the end of the month.

Developing supporting industries is a key solution in improving the quality and competitiveness of Vietnam’s economy. It is therefore necessary to redesign policies to help enterprises innovate and access capital, especially given the effects of Covid-19.

A master plan on economic recovery and development following Covid-19 is to be prepared, focusing not only on economic issues but also on social issues, health, mental well-being, and young people, according to National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.

In the first nine months of 2021, Vietnam’s total exports to ASEAN stood at $20.6 billion, up 21.2 per cent compared to the same period last year. ASEAN is the country’s fourth-largest export market, after the US, China, and the EU.

Leaders from the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) have prepared a safe reopening roadmap to resume both domestic and international tourism. Vietnam’s tourism sector is expected to fully reopen to international visitors from June 2022.
