Total vehicle sales by members of the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association (VAMA) reached 220,733 units in the first eight months of 2025, up 17% year-on-year.
Breaking down by category, passenger car sales rose 11%, commercial vehicles surged 33%, and specialised vehicles jumped 58%.
Sales of domestically assembled cars totaled 105,491 units, a 12% increase compared to the same period last year, while imported cars grew 21.5% to 115,242 units.
In August alone, 25,973 units were sold, down 18% year-on-year. Of these, 17,304 were passenger cars, 8,367 were commercial vehicles, and 302 were specialised vehicles. Sales of domestically assembled cars in August reached 12,671 units, falling 19% from the previous month. Meanwhile, the sales of completely imported cars were 13,302 units, down 17% compared to the previous month.
