Vietnam’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) in September rose 0.42% from the previous month, driven by higher costs of non-public education services, food, and housing maintenance materials, the National Statistics Office (NSO) announced on October 6.

Compared with December 2024, September’s CPI increased by 2.61%, and up 3.38% year-on-year.

Prices rose across 10 groups of goods and services, including education, transport, food and catering services, as well as housing, electricity, water, fuel, and construction materials. The only decline was recorded in culture, entertainment, and tourism services.

On average, CPI in the third quarter climbed 3.27% year-on-year, while the nine-month figure also rose 3.27% compared to the same period of 2024.

Core inflation in September edged up 0.2% month-on-month and 3.18% year-on-year. For the first nine months, core inflation averaged 3.19%—lower than the 3.27% increase in overall CPI.
