Seafood export revenue in 2023 is estimated to reach $9.2 billion, equivalent to 92 per cent of the annual target, according to the Department of Fisheries at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Shrimp is the largest contributor to total export turnover, with about $3.45 billion, followed by tra fish ($1.9 billion), tuna ($900 million), and mollusks ($800 million).

Total aquaculture output this year is expected at 9.269 billion tons, up 2 per cent year-on-year and exceeding the annual target of 9.05 billion tons.

Catching and aquaculture outputs hit 3.86 million tons and 5.4 million tons, respectively.

Vietnam’s seafood industry has set a target of earning export revenue of $9.5 billion in 2024.
