The launching ceremony was held on March 28.

A ceremony was held in central Da Nang city on March 28 to launch the comprehensive construction investment project of Lien Chieu Container Terminal, together with the announcement of the completion of the shared infrastructure construction at Lien Chieu Port.

Covering 172.6 hectares, the project is planned as a modern container port and an international transshipment hub for Vietnam’s central region. It will have a design capacity of approximately 5.7 million TEUs per year, equivalent to about 74 million tons of cargo. Throughput is projected to reach between 14.25 million and 36.3 million tons annually by 2030.

The port will feature eight container berths with a total quay length of around 2,750 meters, capable of accommodating vessels of up to 18,000 TEUs. Advanced technologies and automation will be applied to enhance operational efficiency.

The project will be implemented in three phases from 2026 to 2036, with total investment exceeding VND50 trillion (more than $2 billion), and an operational period of 50 years.
