Total export turnover in agriculture, forestry, and fisheries products in the first four months of this year reached $15.66 billion, a year-on-year decline of 13.3 per cent, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The sector posted a trade surplus of $2.51 billion during the period, down 37.7 per cent year-on-year.
In April alone, export value was estimated at $4.54 billion, down 8.3 per cent against April 2022.
During the first four months, certain products posted higher export value, including coffee, with $1.7 billion, a year-on-year increase of 2.5 per cent, fruit and vegetables with $1.39 billion, up 19.4 per cent, and cashew nuts, with $942 million, up 3.4 per cent. In particular, exports of rice earned $1.56 billion, up 54.5 per cent year-on-year.
Conversely, export revenues for some farm produce declined, such as rubber, down 20.1 per cent year-on-year, tea, down 5.8 per cent, pepper, down 10.2 per cent, and shrimp, down 39.6 per cent.
Regarding export markets, China, the US, and Japan maintained their positions as Vietnam’s top 3 largest export markets for agriculture, forestry, and fisheries products.
