Logistics center unlocks new potential for Hai Phong’s maritime economy
Tan Cang Lach Huyen Logistics Center is expected to become a "strategic link" in Northern Vietnam's seaport and logistics ecosystem.

The Tan Cang Lach Huyen Logistics Center was officially inaugurated at Lot KB1 within the Xuan Cau Industrial Park and Free Trade Zone in the northern port city of Hai Phong on May 27.

Phase 1 of the project covers 12.4 ha and features a container yard with a capacity of approximately 8,000 TEUs. The facility includes Container Freight Station (CFS) warehouses, bonded warehouses, and general warehouses, offering value-added logistics services such as packaging, labeling, and quality control.

A major advantage of the project is its strategic location directly behind the Lach Huyen port area. It offers direct connectivity to the Hanoi–Hai Phong–Quang Ninh Expressway and is designed to integrate with the future Vietnam–China railway link.

The inauguration comes as Hai Phong accelerates its mission to become an international logistics hub and a modern port city. The city’s ability to accommodate ultra-large container vessels sailing directly to Europe and the Americas has significantly transformed the import-export logistics structure of Northern Vietnam. This shift reduces dependence on international transshipment hubs, shortens transit times, and optimizes costs for businesses.

Vice Chairman of the Hai Phong People’s Committee, Mr. Hoang Minh Cuong, noted that the city’s development orientation aims to establish Hai Phong as a leading maritime economy and logistics center in the country. A key strategic breakthrough involves synchronous investment in port, industrial, transport, and logistics infrastructure, while simultaneously strengthening regional and international connectivity.

The emergence of the Tan Cang Lach Huyen Logistics Center not only increases the operational capacity of the deep-water port cluster but also helps define a "next-generation" logistics model that is greener, more digitalized, and more integrated.

The center is currently undergoing procedures to achieve LEED green building certification and C-TPAT (Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism) certification for the US market.

Data from the Hai Phong Maritime Administration shows that in 2025, cargo throughput at the city’s port system reached approximately 114.5 million tons, an increase of nearly 10 million tons compared to the previous year. Container volume alone reached over 8.2 million TEUs, a growth of more than 10%. Hai Phong continues to maintain its position as the busiest seaport in Vietnam, with over 40,000 vessel and vehicle arrivals, including approximately 19,000 ship calls.
