Vietnam’s aviation sector targets transporting 76.3 million passengers and 1.1 million tons of cargo over the course of this year, up 38 per cent but down 3 per cent, respectively, year-on-year, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.
The figures were revealed at a recent conference to review the country’s aviation market in the first half of the year and carry out tasks over the remaining months.
Domestic air transport rose 8 per cent in the first half compared to the first half of 2019, prior to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Vietnamese airlines conduct flights on 66 air routes, with 650 flights connecting the three major cities of Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang with 19 other domestic airports each day.
The foreign transport market has also recovered gradually as many international carriers resume operations.
Fifty-two foreign airlines and five domestic airlines conduct flights on 143 international air routes linking Vietnam with 29 countries and territories.
