The People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City has directed the investor of Metro Line No. 2 to commence construction on January 15, 2026.
Under the project implementation plan recently issued by the city People's Committee, key preparatory tasks — including the preparation and appraisal of the mid-term report for the adjusted construction investment feasibility study, the adjusted environmental impact assessment, the project monitoring and evaluation report before adjustment, and the final adjusted feasibility study report — are scheduled to take place from October to December 2025.
Metro Line No. 2 will stretch over 11 km, of which 9.2 km will run underground, with the remaining sections comprising elevated tracks and the approach to the Tham Luong depot in District 12. The project includes nine underground stations and one elevated station.
Once operational, the metro line will connect with Metro Line No. 1 (Ben Thanh – Suoi Tien) at Ben Thanh Station in District 1 and link with future urban transit routes, enhancing east–west connectivity across the city’s central area.
