Hanoi targets developing into a modern and smart city, a hub and driving force for the development of the Red River Delta region and a key economic region in the north and the entire country under its adjusted master planning to 2045.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha signed a Prime Ministerial decision on June 16 approving adjustments to the capital’s master planning, which sets out many tasks to promote regional connectivity to develop Hanoi into a growth pole in the northern region.
Under the plan, Hanoi will promote the development of satellite urban areas and affiliated cities.
It will also tightly manage high-rise residential developments in the downtown area and launch urban renewal efforts and redevelopment programs.
The city will also focus on developing underground urban spaces and building harmonious rural-urban links, preserving traditional cultural identity, protecting the environmental landscape, and promoting sustainable development.
The city’s total population is estimated to reach 13.74-14.6 million by 2045.
