Ho Chi Minh City plans to start construction of the six planned urban railway lines in 2028 with a total estimated cost of approximately VND837 trillion ($32.9 billion), according to the municipal Department of Transport.
They have a total length of 183 km.
Construction is expected for completion by 2035.
Under its draft urban railway development project for 2030 with a vision to 2045, the city aims to have 351 km of urban railways by 2045 and 510 km of rail lines by 2060.
Regarding capital sources, the department plans to mobilize capital from the State and local budget, loans, revenue from land use rights and other sources.
