Ho Chi Minh City welcomed over 4.6 million international tourists in the first 10 months of 2024, a year-on-year growth of 12.9%, figures from the municipal Department of Tourism show.
Meanwhile, the city served more than 30.9 million domestic visitors, surging 1.3% compared to the same period last year.
Total tourism revenue in the ten-month period reached VND156.65 trillion ($6.2 billion).
In October alone, 646,445 foreign tourists and more than 3.56 million domestic tourists visited the city, a year-on-year rise of 16.6% and 1.2%, respectively. Tourism revenue was estimated at over VND16.25 trillion ($638 million).
In order to attract more foreign tourists to the city, the department is currently developing preferential policies aimed at attracting international MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) groups to hold events in the southern largest economic hub. The city has also boosted tourism collaboration with 13 Mekong Delta provinces and cities and increased tourism promotion programs both inside and outside the country.
