The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Council elected Mr. Nguyen Van Dung as the new Deputy Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, with 100 per cent of People’s Council members voting in favor, on November 11.

Born 1972, Mr. Dung is a native of Binh Chanh district in Ho Chi Minh City. He earned a Master’s degree in Political Science and Bachelor’s degrees in Law and Economics.

He previously served as Chairman of the District 1 People’s Committee, Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Economic - Budget Committee under the People’s Council, and Deputy Secretary and Standing Deputy Chairman of Tan Phu district. In July 2021, he was elected Deputy Chairman of the People’s Council.

As he will be in charge of the city’s finance and budget work, the newly-elected Deputy Chairman pledged to make every effort to ensure that the city will realize the budget collection and expenditure targets set by the central government, and will continue reforming and raising the efficiency of public finance and budget management to meet requirements for the city’s development.

Efforts will also be made to accelerate the development of finance and banking services through the implementation of modern and smart e-purchasing models, while the development of the Ho Chi Minh City International Financial Center will also move forward.
