Ho Chi Minh City is set to officially commence construction of a pedestrian bridge over the Saigon River on March 29, ahead of its original schedule by one month.

This bridge will connect District 1 with Thu Duc City.

The bridge, designed to resemble a water coconut leaf, will feature artistic lighting and a recirculating waterfall. Its unique architecture is expected to become a major attraction for both residents and tourists visiting Ho Chi Minh City.

The project, with a total investment of VND1 trillion (over $39 million), is entirely funded by Nutifood Nutrition Food Joint Stock Company.

The structure will span approximately 261 meters in length, including a 187-meter main span supported by a cable-stayed arch and steel beams. The cross-section of the bridge will vary from 7 to 11 meters in width.

Additionally, the navigational clearance, the distance from the highest water level to the underside of the bridge, will be 10 meters.
