A high-speed ferry service connecting Vung Tau city and Con Dao Island, in southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province, was launched on March 8, the Vietnam News Agency reports.
The three-story vessel Thang Long, operated by the Phu Quoc Express JSC, is 77.46 meters in length and 9.5 meters wide.
It is capable of carrying up to 1,017 passengers.
The ferry will set out on its first trip from Cau Da Port in Vung Tau city on March 9 and return the following day.
Con Dao Island is located 180 km from Vung Tau city and about 230 km southeast of Ho Chi Minh City. It has attracted growing numbers of local and foreign visitors over recent years.
