Vietnam’s Index of Industrial Production (IIP) maintained strong momentum in the first ten months of 2025, expanding 9.2% year-on-year, according to the National Statistics Office (NSO).
The country’s industrial growth was driven primarily by the manufacturing and processing sector, which increased 10.5% and contributed 8.5 percentage points to overall IIP growth. The electricity production and distribution sector rose 6.8%, adding 0.6 percentage points, while the water supply, waste and wastewater management sector grew 9%, contributing 0.1 percentage points.
In contrast, the mining sector continued to underperform, contracting 0.1% and reducing the overall index by 0.01 percentage points.
Several key industries recorded robust year-on-year growth, including motor vehicle production (up 23.5%); rubber and plastic products (17.3%); garment (13.3%); food production and processing (10.4%); and furniture manufacturing (10.3%).
Among all 34 localities recorded increases in the IIP, many saw robust gains driven by a strong performance in processing and manufacturing. Notably, Quang Ninh posted a 34.1% rise, Phu Tho 28.8%, and Ninh Binh 22.9%.
