On March 9, at the headquarters of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, a meeting of the State Appraisal Council was held to appraise the pre-feasibility study for the Khanh Hoa - Buon Ma Thuot Highway project. The 117-km highway connecting south-central provinces and the central highlands has been prioritized for investment, with a total of nearly VND22 trillion ($968.4 million). Construction is expected to begin in 2023 and be completed in 2026.

Eleven bidding packages for northern mountainous traffic project beginning

A transport connection project in northern mountainous provinces is being funded by the ADB and the Australian Government, with total investment of more than VND5.3 trillion ($235 million) and including eleven bidding packages implemented over four years from 2021 to 2024. The first bidding package was deployed in December 2021 and the remaining ten will begin between April and June.

The Ministry of Transport is to spend more than VND12.6 trillion ($552 million) of public investment capital to implement key projects in north-central Nghe An province to 2025. The province will also set aside trillions of VND to upgrade traffic infrastructure on inter-commune and inter-district routes and expand provincial routes and national highways.

MARD opens new irrigation network in Mekong Delta

On March 5, in the presence of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) opened the Cai Lon - Cai Be irrigation network in the Mekong Delta’s Kien Giang province. The project is the largest super irrigation project in the country, with total investment of more than VND3.3 trillion ($143.9 million), and is expected to help irrigation and prevent drought.

A number of transport infrastructure projects are set to be built in the Mekong Delta in order to strengthen links between the seaport network in the region and international border gates, creating a breakthrough for growth.
