According to the Ministry of Transport (MoT), VND4.9 trillion ($216.1 million) in medium-term public investment capital will be set aside to complete three unfinished projects in south-central Phu Yen province. Three new expressway projects in the province will also be built, with total investment of nearly VND23 trillion ($1.01 billion).

A proposal has been made to expand the 25.7-km Hoa Lac - Hoa Binh road link passing through Hanoi and neighboring Hoa Binh province, with total investment of more than VND8 trillion ($352.3 million) and in the public-private partnership (PPP) form. The expansion aims to gradually synchronize the Hanoi - Hoa Binh - Son La - Dien Bien road network, connecting the capital with northwestern provinces.

Hanoi has approved planning for an 18-ha park in Trau Quy town. The land will be used for roads, lakes, and green spaces. In addition, in the 2021-2025 period, the capital will focus on completing six parks now finishing investment procedures and upgrading 45 of the existing 63 parks and flower gardens.

The Ministry of Transport (MoT) has assigned the My Thuan project management board to prepare a feasibility study on the construction of the first phase of the My An - Cao Lanh Expressway in the Mekong Delta’s Dong Thap province. The project is 26 km in length, with total investment of more than VND4.77 trillion ($208.6 million).

Central Quang Tri province kicked off construction of the Hai Lang LNG (liquefied natural gas) Warehouse Center on January 15, which will be capable of housing 1.5 million tons of LNG per year in its first phase, and the Hai Lang Power Center, which will have a generation capacity of 1,500 MW in its first phase. The project covers an area of 120 ha and has total investment of over $2.3 billion.

Vietnam’s power system was the largest in the ASEAN region last year in terms of power capacity. Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) has set a target for 2022 of commercial power output reaching 242.35 billion kWh, up 7.6 per cent year-on-year, and plans to begin and complete important power source and grid projects.
