The Ministry of Transport has not yet been able to find the capital needed to upgrade National Highway No. 2D running through northern Yen Bai province before 2025, but will allocate VND1.8 trillion ($78 million) to the province to complete three projects under investment and start a new route connecting northern mountainous Ha Giang province with the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Highway.

The Saigon Safari Park project in Ho Chi Minh City’s Cu Chi district sits on 456 ha, has total investment of $500 million, and has been planned since 2004 as a major eco-tourism area in Southeast Asia, but construction is still to begin. It has been proposed that the site be turned into a high-tech industrial park to attract investment and boost socio-economic development.

According to data from KPMG Vietnam, the country’s merger and acquisitions (M&As) totaled more than $8.8 billion in the first ten months of 2021, up 17.9 per cent year-on-year and 13.7 per cent compared to the same period of 2019. Potential remains for continued growth in 2022.

The Ho Chi Minh City - Can Tho city railway line is undergoing a pre-feasibility study within the public investment plan for the 2021-2025 period. The high-speed railway line linking the southern hub and the Mekong Delta city has total investment of $10 billion. Two investors, from the US and the UK, have expressed interest in the project.

A number of projects are being implemented at the Van Don Economic Zone in northern Quang Ninh province, helping it become a multi-industry, multi-field marine economic zone, an entertainment industry center, and an international trade gateway. It has attracted nearly VND6 trillion ($261 million) in investment this year.

Fifty-eight projects are expected to be implemented in central Da Nang city on a total area of nearly 10,850 ha in 2022, with nearly 1,300 ha to be reclaimed by the local government. Prominent projects on large areas include resettlement areas, industrial zones, and industrial clusters.
