In order to improve and develop urban living, Ho Chi Minh City will set aside VND19.28 trillion ($847.49 million) over the next five years to relocate people living in “slums” along canals. Together with upgrading existing residential areas, the city will also select investors to develop a number of new urban areas.

The Ha Tinh Provincial People’s Committee has requested that the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) consider and submit to the Prime Minister a proposal for an additional VND500 billion ($21.96 million) of public investment capital in the 2021-2025 period, to build a road from National Highway No. 12C to the Formosa steel complex at the Vung Ang Economic Zone.

Under planning approved by the Ministry of Transport, following upgrades, Dien Bien Phu Airport in northern mountainous Dien Bien province will have a capacity of welcoming 500,000 passengers a year by 2025, while its apron will be able to park four aircraft, including three large aircraft. Total investment will be VND1.547 trillion ($68.06 million), all of which will come from Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV).

The Ministry of Transport has directed project companies to urgently mobilize capital sources to build the North-South Expressway section from Nha Trang city to Cam Lam district in south-central Khanh Hoa province under the public-private partnership (PPP) model. The project is 50-km long with total investment of over VND5.5 trillion ($242 million).

The Hai Phong City People’s Committee is finalizing its City Master Plan to 2040 and vision to 2050. Notable adjustments relate to the construction of Nam Do Son Port and railways, and developing the southern urban area into a modern and civilized green urban area.

According to the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI), there are 13 issues relating to a proposal to amend a number of laws and a number of resolutions from the National Assembly, 30 issues relating to a proposal to amend the provisions of a number of decrees and circulars, and 171 issues relating to investment procedures.
