Vietnam’s seafood export revenue in July was estimated to reach over $885 million, up 14% year-on-year, marking the highest increase since early this year, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
The figure brings to the total seafood export value in the first seven months of the year to nearly $5.9 billion, up 7.3% compared to the same period last year.
Exports of most key products gained high growth, particularly shrimp and tra fish.
Shrimp export in July rose 11% year-on-year, the highest increase during the Jan-July period. Exports to key markets rose rapidly, including the EU (32%), China (24%), the US (9%) and Japan (4%). Total shrimp export turnover in Jan-July period reached nearly $2 billion, up 7% year-on-year.
Meanwhile, exports of tra fish soared 23% year-on-year in July. Exports to major markets surged 20-40%. Total export value in the seven-month period was estimated at nearly $1.09 billion, up 7.7%.
The top four export markets of Vietnamese seafood products in July were China, the US, the EU and Japan, with a year-on-year growth of 30%, 14%, 14%, and 11%, respectively.
