Lam Dong province in Vietnam's south central region is focusing on developing many new, high-quality tourism products, including event tourism, MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) tourism, high-end marine sports, health care, ecotourism, agricultural tourism, and cultural-festival tourism, according to a report from Radio the Voice of Vietnam.
The locality also encourages investment in large-scale entertainment complexes and theme parks; aiming for resort, agricultural, and marine tourism to extend visitors' length of stay, increase spending, and enhance tourist satisfaction.
The set goal is to attract over 23 million visitors, with total retail sales of goods and service revenue reaching over VND255 trillion (over $9.65 billion) this year.
Mr. Nguyen Van Loc, Director of the Provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that to achieve this goal, the province will continue to develop the night economy, accelerate digital transformation in tourism, and stimulate demand with preferential packages, linking with airlines, railways, and travel agencies to create attractive products.
"Lam Dong's tourism is still considered 'budget tourism' on Vietnam's tourism map. The challenge is how to make visitors to the locality spend money. We need to redraw the province's tourism map, awaken all three areas: Da Lat, Gia Nghia, and Phan Thiet, and bring events here. Without the companionship of businesses, it will fail. Therefore, we are committed to creating all conditions for businesses and travel agencies to jointly build a new image for Lam Dong tourism, leveraging the advantages of its three regions," said Mr. Loc.
The nowaday province of Lam Dong was established on the basis of the merger of the three former provinces of Lam Dong, Dak Nong and Binh Thuan. The former citties of Da Lat, Gia Nghia and Phan Thiet were provincial capitals of these provinces, respectively.
