Vietnam welcomed 1.46 million international visitors in June, a decrease of over 4% from the previous month, but an increase of over 17% compared to the same period last year, according to an announcement from the National Statistics Office.
In the first six months of the year, a total of 10.7 million international visitors arrived in Vietnam, an increase of nearly 21% over the same period in 2024 and up nearly 26% from 2019 – the golden year for Vietnam's tourism.
Compared to the target of welcoming 22-23 million foreign visitors this year, the actual number of arrivals in the first six months has reached nearly 49% of the goal. However, according to CEOs of travel agencies, Vietnam can still achieve the 22 million figure, as the year-end peak tourist season (October to December) is expected to be a period of breakthrough growth.
Among these arrivals, visitors coming by air continued to constitute the majority, with nearly 9.1 million entries. Arrivals by land accounted for nearly 1.4 million, while the remainder came by sea.
Mainland China continued to be Vietnam's largest in the first half of 2025, with 2.7 million arrivals (accounting for 25.6%). South Korea ranked second with 2.2 million arrivals (20.7%). These two markets alone accounted for 46.3% of the total international visitors in the past six months.
Following them were Taiwan (China) with 630,000 arrivals, the United States (449,000), Japan (393,000), and Cambodia (360,000). The top 10 largest source markets for Vietnam also included India, Australia, Malaysia, and Russia.
