Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, head of the Central Steering Committee on Housing Policy and Real Estate Market, has instructed ministries, agencies, localities, and businesses to expedite the development of a healthy and sustainable housing market, with social housing as the top priority.
Chairing the committee’s third meeting in Hanoi on November 11, which was connected online with all the 34 provinces and cities, the PM stressed the urgent need to remove bureaucratic bottlenecks to ensure smooth, transparent, and sustainable development of both social housing and the broader real estate market.
He called for rapid issuance of guiding regulations, urging enterprises that already have access to clean land to coordinate closely with local authorities to implement suitable projects.
The Prime Minister emphasized the shared responsibility of all stakeholders in ensuring that “no one is left behind” in access to adequate housing.
According to the Ministry of Construction, the country currently has 3,297 social and commercial housing projects and land plots in the pipeline, with the potential to supply around 5.9 million housing units. Total investment capital for these developments is estimated at more than VND7.4 quadrillion ($281 billion).
