Vietnam’s railway sector posted high growth in 2022, with consolidated revenue totaling over VND7.7 trillion ($323 million), a year-on-year rise of 14 per cent, according to the Vietnam Railways Corporation.

The sector saw outstanding results in passenger and cargo transport. It transported 4.52 million passengers during the year and 5.7 million tons of cargo, representing 310.7 per cent and 100.8 per cent of the figures in 2021.

Revenue from cargo transport amounted to VND3.7 trillion ($155 million), up 63 per cent.

The sector targets turnover in 2023 equal to 103 per cent of the 2022 figure.
