During his visit to Vietnam for the 8th Onshore & Offshore Wind Power Conference, Mr. Tejjas Parmar, International Business Director of Suzlon Group (India), shared insights with Vietnam Economic Times/VnEconomy about the potential for wind energy development and the group's cooperation opportunities and directions in Vietnam.
THE RIGHT TIME TO SERIOUSLY EXPLORE COOPERATION OPPORTUNITIES
Vietnam Economic Times / VnEconomy: Mr. Parmar, welcome to Vietnam, and thank you for visiting our magazine. To begin, could you please share an overview of Suzlon Group, its core business areas, and global operations in the wind energy sector?
Mr. Tejjas Parmar:
First of all, thank you for having me here. Suzlon is a global renewable energy company headquartered in India and listed on the Indian Stock Exchange. We are present in 17 countries across six continents-including Europe, the Americas, Australia, Africa, and Asia.
Over the past 30 years, Suzlon has made significant contributions to the global renewable energy sector, with a total installed base of more than 21 gigawatts. We operate across the entire wind energy value chain-from design, manufacturing, and supply to project execution, operations, and maintenance.
In our home market, India, we provide end-to-end solutions for our customers, while offering customized solutions for international markets.
Vietnam Economic Times / VnEconomy: What are Suzlon’s main objectives and expectations for this visit to Vietnam? Are you exploring any potential investment or partnership opportunities here?
Mr. Tejjas Parmar:
We are in Vietnam to attend the 8th Vietnam Onshore and Offshore Wind Energy Summit and Exhibition. Suzlon has been observing the Vietnamese and Southeast Asian markets for quite some time, and we believe this is the right moment to look at Vietnam seriously and explore potential collaboration.
At this stage, we are studying the market carefully to identify the right opportunities where Suzlon can add value-through our products, services, and the extensive experience we have built over the last 30 years in global markets.
Vietnam Economic Times / VnEconomy: How does Suzlon differentiate itself from major European and Chinese wind energy companies in terms of technology, cost efficiency, or project delivery?
Mr. Tejjas Parmar:
Every global player brings its own strengths, but Suzlon offers a unique value proposition. We combine European technology and design standards with India’s cost-effective manufacturing capabilities.
Our research and development centers are based in the Netherlands, Germany, and Denmark, where experts design products tailored for specific market needs. These designs are then realized at Suzlon’s large-scale manufacturing facilities in India, allowing us to deliver high-quality products at competitive costs.
This synergy-European engineering excellence with Indian manufacturing efficiency-enables us to provide the right product and solution for the markets we operate in or plan to enter. That, I believe, is our key differentiator.
LOOKING FOR SUITABLE PROJECTS, SHARING EXPERIENCE WITH VIETNAM
Vietnam Economic Times / VnEconomy: What is Suzlon’s long-term vision for developing wind power projects in Vietnam, given the country’s growing renewable energy ambitions under the PDP8 plan?
Mr. Tejjas Parmar:
Under the Power Development Plan VIII (PDP8), Vietnam is expected to add 4-5 gigawatts of renewable energy annually until 2030. This presents substantial opportunities for companies like Suzlon to participate in suitable projects where our wind turbines can be adopted by local investors and developers.
Suzlon always takes a long-term approach to market development. We not only supply turbines, but also support our partners throughout the entire project lifecycle-including construction, execution, operations, and maintenance-to ensure reliability and maximize investor returns.
Vietnam Economic Times / VnEconomy: Based on Suzlon’s global experience, what best practices can Vietnam adopt to accelerate its transition to green and sustainable energy?
Mr. Tejjas Parmar:
With over 30 years of experience operating in 17 countries, Suzlon has gained valuable insights into product strategies, local service delivery, and operational models.
Our core strength lies in mastering the complete value chain of wind energy-from design and engineering to manufacturing, installation, and after-sales service. Managing this full spectrum ensures that investors achieve the highest returns from their projects.
We believe that these experiences can help define the right solutions for emerging markets like Vietnam-tailored to local weather conditions, investor expectations, and technical requirements.
Vietnam Economic Times / VnEconomy: Thank you very much, Mr. Parmar. We wish Suzlon great success in finding strong local partners in Vietnam.
Mr. Tejjas Parmar:
Thank you. We are truly excited about this visit. The summit has been very productive, and we believe India and Vietnam share many similarities-in climate conditions, market expectations, and investor outlook.
The wind turbine models we have developed for India are highly adaptable to Vietnam’s environment, and we look forward to offering our products and solutions here at the right time and with the right partners. Suzlon is ready to contribute to Vietnam’s green growth and renewable energy goals.
Vietnam Economic Times / VnEconomy: Thank you, Mr. Parmar.
