Tuna exports recorded the highest revenue among aquatic products of Vietnam in the first seven months of the year, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
Vietnam earned $2.1 billion from seafood exports in the seven-month periods, a year-on-year increase of 6%.
To which, the shipment of tuna contributed $555 million.
Tuna exports to key markets gained strong growth, including the US, the EU, Israel, Russia and South Korea. Exports to the US and the EU surged 22% and 36% year-on-year, respectively.
Vietnamese tuna products have been exported to 100 countries and territories.
In the Jan-July period, exports of squid and octopus ranked the second in terms of turnover, after tuna, with total revenue of $351 million.
South Korea is the largest importer of Vietnamese squid and octopus with an import value $140 million, accounting for over 40% of the total export of these products.
