Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang has called on EU member countries to soon ratify the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EUVIPA).
He made the proposal during a reception for the European Parliament’s Delegation for Relations with the Countries of Southeast Asia and ASEAN, led by its Chairman Daniel Caspary in Hanoi on June 20.
Mr. Quang expressed his delight at the profound and substantive developments in the relationship between Vietnam and the EU over time. The EU has become one of Vietnam’s leading trade and investment partners, while Vietnam is the EU’s largest trading partner in ASEAN.
He said he hopes the two sides will continue to cooperate closely, focusing on areas where the EU has advantages and those that follow common trends to serve green growth, sustainable development, and climate change response.
Stronger bilateral cooperation will contribute to promoting the Vietnam-EU comprehensive partnership, bring practical benefits to people and businesses on both sides, and actively contribute to maintaining peace, stability, development, and prosperity in the region and the world.
Mr. Quang also took the occasion to urge the European Commission to soon remove the “yellow card” warning against Vietnamese seafood exports to the EU, which would benefit both parties.
