The Agency for Domestic Market Surveillance and Development under the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism signed a cooperation memorandum for 2026-2030 in Hanoi on October 15, aiming to strengthen links between tourism and trade, promote Vietnamese products and better protect tourists’ rights.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Tran Huu Linh, Head of the The Agency for Domestic Market Surveillance and Development highlighted the close relationship between tourism development and the domestic market, particularly in expanding sales opportunities, increasing tourist spending and enhancing the value of Vietnamese products.

He described the agreement as an important step towards implementing government policies to develop shopping tourism into a strategic, high-value-added product while encouraging domestic consumption and safeguarding tourists’ legitimate interests.

The memorandum focuses on policy research, coordinated consumer stimulus campaigns and the promotion of traditional handicrafts, regional specialties and tourism souvenirs. The two agencies also plan to establish Vietnamese product showcases at key tourist destinations.

Further cooperation will support businesses in adopting digital technologies, e-commerce, cashless payments and product traceability systems to improve transparency and provide consumers with reliable product information.

The agencies will also coordinate efforts to receive and address complaints and violations involving commercial fraud, counterfeit goods, imitation products, pricing irregularities and poor service quality at tourist sites.

Feedback submitted through the Vietnam Travel application and related systems will be connected directly to the domestic market agency’s designated contact points to facilitate timely handling.
