Vietnam ranks 60th in the world, fourth in Asia, and first in the ASEAN Parliamentary Union Council in terms of female participation in elected bodies. It also ranked third in ASEAN and 47th of 187 countries and territories participating in rankings on gender equality in political participation and management. The percentage of businesses owned by women stands at 26.5 per cent, ranking the country ninth out of the 58 countries and economies studied.

To promote the implementation of the government’s national target program on building new rural areas in the 2021-2025 period, the Ministry of Transport (MoT) will mobilize all resources to invest in the development of infrastructure and rural transport networks to complete rural transport works ahead of schedule.

The heat of inflation does not appear to be too significant in Vietnam, with the World Bank (WB) forecasting a rate of around 3.8 per cent for this year. However, factors such as fluctuations in energy prices, the end of policies supporting lower taxes, rising prices for public services, and higher wages will make controlling inflation more difficult.

While chairing the second meeting of the government’s Steering Committee on Administrative Reform on October 19, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh outlined eight key tasks in the process, including the development of digitalization in government, promoting the application of information technology and digital transformation, and improving the efficiency of State administrative agencies.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann on October 18, when the latter attended the OECD Southeast Asia Program 2022 in Hanoi. Mr. Cormann spoke highly of Vietnam’s development and said it is one of only a few economies to recover strongly in 2022 and have a positive outlook for 2023. The OECD will continue to accompany Vietnam in economic recovery and reform towards green and sustainable development goals.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea (RoK) Park Jin on October 18, who is paying an official visit to Vietnam. The Prime Minister said Minister Park Jin’s visit to Vietnam is significant as this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. He said he will continue to strongly, substantively, and effectively promote cooperation between the two countries.
