Hai Phong’s economic indicators down

Figures from the Hai Phong Department of Statistics reveal that the northern port city’s economic indicators were down significantly in the first nine months of 2022 compared to the same period in previous years. Its gross regional domestic product (GRDP) increased 11.8 per cent, compared to 12.38 per cent in 2021, while its Index of Industrial Production (IIP) increased 12.7 per cent, compared to 19.68 per cent last year.

MoNRE finalizing draft water resources plan in north

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MoNRE) is collecting comments to finalize the Draft Planning of the Red River - Thai Binh River Basin for the 2021-2030 period and vision to 2050, for submission to the Prime Minister for approval this month. The Draft targets that, by 2030, water resources will ensure the harmonization of benefits between localities and water users and meet demand for water for daily life and production.

Research continues on legal framework for virtual assets

The Legislative Research Institute under the National Assembly Standing Committee has said that the legal framework on the ownership of virtual assets will focus on identifying the legal nature of virtual assets and building specific criteria for licensing to operate crypto asset exchanges and intermediaries in the field in Vietnam. Vietnamese law does not currently recognize ownership of virtual and digital assets.

UOB raises GDP growth forecast

UOB raises GDP growth forecast

With impressive growth posted in the third quarter, United Overseas Bank (UOB) has raised its growth forecast for Vietnam in 2022 to 8.2 per cent; significantly higher than its previous forecast of 7 per cent. UOB believes that, in 2023, Vietnam’s economy will be affected to a certain degree in the context of demand in main markets continuing to slow down. Growth next year is therefore expected to be 6.6 per cent.
