New regulations on the prevention and control of Covid-19 for people entering Vietnam have been issued by the Ministry of Health. Visitors with a negative Covid test will enjoy quarantine-free travel from day one. However, they will have to present proof of a negative SARS-CoV-2 test (except for children under two years old), conducted within 72 hours prior to departure for RT-PCR/RT-LAMP tests or within 24 hours for rapid antigen tests, and the results must be certified by authorities in the country where the tests are conducted.

Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien told the meeting of the National Assembly Standing Committee on petroleum management on March 16 that if tax tools are used up but still cannot control the petroleum price, social security policies will need to be applied to resolve the situation. He also suggested that ministries, sectors, and businesses complete strategic projects on petroleum reserves in the time to come.

The “One year journey of the UKVFTA: Remarkable achievements and the vision ahead” seminar revealed that in the first year of implementing the UK-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (UKVFTA), trade between the two reached $6.6 billion, an increase of more than 17 per cent compared to 2020. Vietnam’s exports to the UK rose by more than 16 per cent and imports from the UK 24 per cent.

The government issued a Resolution on March 15 on visa exemptions for citizens from 13 countries. The Resolution is valid for three years, from March 15. The loosening of the visa policy will create favorable conditions and competitive advantages for Vietnam’s tourism sector to attract international visitors.

Three factors hindering inflation control in 2022 are sudden increases in aggregate demand, high raw material prices, and supply chain disruptions, according to analysts. To control inflation, the first step is to control supply and then maintain the world’s supply chain with Vietnam.

At a meeting on March 14 that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended to thank international partners for providing Covid-19 vaccines to Vietnam, Ms. Rana Flowers, United Nations Resident Coordinator and UNICEF Representative in Vietnam, said the country became the standard in vaccinations and Covid-19 pandemic prevention, and is among the highest vaccinated countries in the world.
