During a meeting on February 23 with the US President’s Special Envoy John Kerry, State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc affirmed that the US is one of Vietnam’s most important partners and that projects from the country are very much appreciated. He also emphasized that responding to climate change is an area of strategic cooperation between the two countries.

A workshop for consultation on and the development of a draft report on the orientation of the National Master Plan for the 2021-2030 period and vision to 2050 was held on February 22 at the headquarters of the Ministry of Planning and Investment.

At the first Agricultural Innovation Mission for Climate (AIM4C) video conference, chaired by the UAE’s Minister of Climate Change and Environment and held on February 21, Vietnam made three commitments: accelerating the transformation of the food system towards becoming “green”; investing in agricultural infrastructure; and enhancing the participation of the private sector in investment and replicating the public-private partnership (PPP) model in agriculture.

The Prime Minister has signed Official Dispatch No. 126/CD-TTg urging the effective implementation of the socio-economic recovery and development program promulgated earlier in Resolution No. 11/NQ-CP from the government, which requires that the disbursement of public investment capital be sped up.

The “Upgrading the rice value chain in the Red River Delta” project has been launched and will be conducted within a new framework for agricultural development cooperation between South Korea and Vietnam, funded by the Korean Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. It will be implemented in the three northern provinces of Thai Binh, Nam Dinh, and Hung Yen from 2022 to 2025.

At the annual Vietnam Business Forum 2022 on February 21, President of the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) Mr. John Rockhold made a number of recommendations to the government, such as increasing the foreign “space” in Vietnamese enterprises, especially banks, continuing to reduce and postpone corporate income taxes in 2022 and 2023, reforming the capital market, and continuing to reduce the number of conditional business sectors.
