Denmark to help Vietnam compile international-standard statistics

The Danish Statistical Office (Denmark Statistics) and the General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO) signed an agreement on November 26. Denmark will provide DKK6.5 million (about $1 million) to help Vietnam compile complete and reliable official statistics under international standards.

UOB Chief: Economy set to recover

Mr. Harry Loh, General Director of United Overseas Bank (UOB Bank) in Vietnam, has said that with a flexible response to the pandemic, Vietnam’s economy will recover strongly and FDI inflows will continue to increase. He identified three major factors behind economic recovery. Despite obstacles from transportation restrictions due to Covid-19, FDI has continued to flow into Vietnam. Exports to the US and Europe have continued to grow, albeit at a slower pace. And the country’s vaccination program has improved significantly, from almost zero to over 20 per cent in just five months.

Economic cooperation agreements signed in Japan

Forty-four economic cooperation agreements between agencies and businesses from Vietnam and Japan were exchanged in the presence of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at the Vietnam-Japan Investment Promotion Conference on November 25, during his official visit to Japan. Some are multi-billion-dollar agreements, such as an investment cooperation deal at the Lang Son power plant in the north and a project raising, processing, and distributing beef cattle in northern Vinh Phuc province.

PM meets with Japanese counterpart

At high-level talks on November 24 during an official visit to Japan, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his Japanese counterpart Kishida Fumio agreed to promote cooperation in socio-economic development through the implementation of large projects. The Japanese Prime Minister announced the donation of an additional 1.5 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine to Vietnam, raising its total to 5.6 million doses together with medical equipment. Following the talks, the two leaders witnessed the signing of eleven cooperation documents between ministries, branches, and businesses of both.
