On November 8 and 9, the National Assembly (NA) will discuss the results of the socio-economic development plan in 2021, Covid-19 prevention and control, and State budget implementation. Under the proposed plan for socio-economic development in 2022, the government has identified 16 key targets, with GDP to reach 6-6.5 per cent, the CPI 4 per cent, and the State budget deficit around 4 per cent of GDP.

Within the framework of his official visit to France, on November 5 Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Mr. Mathias Cormann, Secretary-General of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). The Prime Minister proposed that the OECD continue to support Vietnam in its process of socio-economic recovery and development following the pandemic.

With Covid-19 lingering and GDP growth in the third quarter coming in at -6.17 per cent, the National Center for Socio-Economic Information and Forecasting (NCIF) has forecast growth for the year as a whole at 1.5-1.9 per cent and 5.8-6.7 per cent in 2022.

Vietnam has recorded 6,324 cases of community transmission of Covid-19 in the last week, or nearly 1,000 each day. Many localities have had to change the level of prevention and control. The country has injected over 86 million doses of vaccine to date.

Established in Berlin, Germany, on October 16, the Vietnam Innovation Network in Europe (VINEU) held an announcement ceremony on November 4 in Paris, France. The VINEU will gather and connect Vietnamese intellectuals and experts, and promote and develop innovation efforts between Vietnam and European countries. It has over 1,000 members in 20 countries and territories, and four component networks in Germany, Japan, Australia, and South Korea.

Within the framework of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s official visit to France, he and French President Emmanuel Macron affirmed the need to further strengthen the pillars of economic cooperation, trade, and investment in the Vietnam-France Strategic Partnership.
