The Vung Ang–Bung Expressway, a key section of the eastern North-South Expressway, officially opened to traffic on August 28, strengthening transport links between Ha Tinh and Quang Tri provinces in the north-central region of Vietnam.

Spanning 55.34 km, the expressway section links with the Bung–Van Ninh Expressway (more than 48 km long), another section of the eastern North - South Expressway.

Construction of the project started in January 2023 with a total investment of more than VND12.54 trillion ($473 million). The route features four lanes, a roadbed width of 17 meters, and a maximum design speed of 90 kph.
