Vietnam plans to build at least 1 million social houses for low-income earners and workers in industrial parks during the 2021-2030 period.
Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has signed a decision approving the master plan.
According to reports from localities, an estimated 2.4 million social houses are needed during the period.
A total of 2.7 million people are working at 392 industrial parks around the country, of which 1.2 million need accommodation.
The government plans to build 428,000 apartments by 2025, while the remaining 634,200 will be built by the end of the decade.
The program is expected to cost over VND849 trillion ($37.7 billion), according to the Ministry of Construction.
