The Mekong Delta’s An Giang province is seeking potential investors for an urban area in My Thoi and My Quy wards in the provincial capital Long Xuyen.

It has been estimated that the 217-ha project will need total investment of VND15.2 trillion ($638 million), including over VND3 trillion ($129 million) for site clearance and resettlement.

The investment in the new urban area aims to develop a network of technical and social infrastructure as well as housing, including commercial and social housing.

A network of kindergartens and primary, secondary, and tertiary education institutions will also be developed.

Investors are to implement the project over ten years from the date of selection, and will operate it for 50 years from the time of land allocation.

In June, the Provincial People’s Committee made public a list of 40 key projects calling for investors in urban development, industry, and commercial services. In Long Xuyen alone are 13 locations designed for the development of commercial housing and urban areas.
