The ancient town in central Vietnam was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999, praised for its remarkably well-preserved Southeast Asian trading port dating from the 15th to 19th centuries.

The adjustment aims for greater flexibility, with the threshold to be raised to approximately VND1 billion ($38,000) to reflect economic realities, support household businesses, and ensure budget balance.

The designed capacity of the port in the central city is 5.7 million TEU per year.

Though results indicate a degree of recovery momentum in Q1 and March, ongoing global headwinds continue to pose concerns for Vietnam macro-economic situation.

This will be the 7th centrally-run city of Vietnam.

Key priorities include completing the governance and operational framework, building a database of strategic investors, and accelerating infrastructure development.
