The construction of a new Phong Chau Bridge in northern Phu Tho province is set to begin in December 2024.
The project, managed by the Thang Long Project Management Board, is currently in the design and planning phase.
The new bridge, which will be located in Tam Nong and Lam Thao districts, is estimated to cost VND800 billion ($31.5 million) and will be funded by the central government.
According to a representative from the Thang Long Project Management Board, which is entrusted by the Ministry of Transport to manage and implement the project, the construction of the bridge is expected to be completed in December 2025.
As planned, the investment plan for the bridge will be submitted for feedback from specialized agencies by mid-November 2024. After approval, construction will commence immediately in December this year.
It is known that the Thang Long Project Management Board is currently researching, reviewing, and comparing three economic and technical options.
The old Phong Chau Bridge on National Highway 32C, which had connected Tam Nong and Lam Thao districts on the two banks of the Red River, was collapsed on September 9, due to rising water levels in the river resulting from super typhoon Yagi, that made landfall on September 7.
