The Da Nang City People's Committee in central Vietnam on October 14 officially approved Sun Ha Long Co., Ltd. (a subsidiary of Sun Group) as the investor for the aforementioned inland waterway tourism project, with a total investment of nearly VND9.9 trillion (over $378 million).
The objective of the project is to invest in the construction and renovation of 20 inland waterway terminals in the central city. Each terminal will feature a park, auxiliary facilities, parking lots, waiting areas, ticket booths, and entertainment areas located behind the pier. The project will also integrate cultural activities such as light shows and artistic performances on the river to create a nighttime highlight, attract tourists, and enhance their experience.
The project is divided into two phases, comprising three component projects.
Phase 1 (2025 - 2030): This includes component project 1, which involves the construction of 8 inland waterway terminals from Thuan Phuoc Bridge to Tien Son Bridge crossing the Han river, along with auxiliary items such as access roads, parking lots, waiting areas, ticket booths, and landscape parks. This phase also covers the procurement of tourist boats, implementation of lighting effects, and organization of art shows along the river.
Phase 2 (2028 - 2031): This encompasses component projects 2 and 3, including 8 inland waterway terminals along the Vinh Dien river and Co Co river, and 4 inland waterway terminals on the Cam Le river.
The decision also permits the investor to purchase passenger boats accommodating 100 to 500 people, utilizing clean fuels and green energy, meeting environmental-friendly standards, and compatible with the air draft clearance of the river bridges.
