During their meeting in Hanoi on October 27, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and Mr. Kim Deawon, Executive Vice President of Samsung E&A, a subsidiary of the Republic of Korea’s Samsung Group, reviewed progress on several water supply and wastewater treatment projects in the Mekong Delta.
The Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that developing a centralized water supply system in the Mekong Delta is a key priority of the Government’s regional development strategy. He said such projects are vital for ensuring water security and promoting sustainable economic growth in the region.
Mr. Kim, for his part, noted that Samsung E&A operates in the industrial and environmental sectors and has advanced technologies for underground wastewater treatment systems, allowing efficient land use for public infrastructure above ground.
He said Samsung E&A, in collaboration with its Vietnamese partner DNP Water, is advancing several freshwater supply projects in the Mekong Delta to strengthen climate resilience and combat saltwater intrusion.
The company is also exploring wastewater treatment projects in the Mekong Delta, Dong Nai, and Ho Chi Minh City, aiming to contribute to the development of a modern and sustainable environmental infrastructure system, according to Mr. Kim.
