Authorities in central Quang Tri province have approved a feasibility study for the construction of Quang Tri Airport in the public-private partnership (PPP) form.

The airport will cover 265 ha in Gio Linh district, and have total investment of more than VND5.8 trillion ($242 million).

It is designed as a Category 4C civil airport, capable of accommodating narrow-body jets, in line with International Civil Aviation Organization standards, and also a Level 2 military airport.

Its designed capacity allows the handling of 5 million passengers and 25,500 tons of cargo each year.

The project received approval from the Prime Minister in December, 2021.

Provincial authorities have asked relevant agencies to complete bidding and select investors for the project in October.
