The Hanoi People's Committee held the groundbreaking ceremony for the Thuong Cat Bridge and its connecting roads project on October 8.
The event is dedicated to the 71st anniversary of the Liberation of Hanoi (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2025).
The project's starting point is at Km3+504, intersecting with Ky Vu Street (Thuong Cat Ward), and its end point is at Km8+731, intersecting with National Highway 23B (Thien Loc Commune).
The bridge is designed as a cable-stayed structure, with a total length of more than 5.2 km, including approach roads measuring 1,321 m and the main bridge section measuring over 3,904 m. The bridge deck will be wide enough for 8 lanes of traffic (6 motorized and 2 non-motorized lanes).
The total investment for the project is over VND7.3 trillion (approximately $277.4 million), sourced from the city's budget, and it is expected to be completed in 2027.
Thuong Cat Bridge is also one of the 10 bridges crossing the Red River included in Hanoi's Transport Master Plan, and scheduled for implementation during the 2015-2030 period.
