Thanh Xuân -

New urban area in Mekong Delta province forecast to accommodate some 16,000 people by 2030 and 18,000 by 2040.

The Hau Giang Provincial People’s Committee has given the go-ahead to general planning for the Bay Ngan Urban Area in Chau Thanh A district by 2040.

The urban area encompasses the whole natural area of Bay Ngan town in the Mekong Delta province, covering a total of over 1,400 ha.

This will be a commercial and service development urban complex, which, in combination with the formation of the Tan Hoa Industrial Park will create development momentum for the western area of Chau Thanh A district.

It is forecast that the area will accommodate about 16,000 people by 2030 and 18,000 by 2040, with land for civil use standing at 290-400 ha and 320-450 ha, respectively, in the two periods.

Under planning, the urban space for the project must maximize advantages and minimize disadvantages in terms of natural conditions, and must be suitable for economic and social conditions as well as the characteristics of the land and infrastructure in the town.
