A number of leading Chinese corporations expressed interest in investing in railway, electricity, and infrastructure development in Vietnam during meetings with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in China on September 16, held on the occasion of his attendance at the 20th China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) and China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (CABIS) in Nanning, the Government News has reported.

Chairman of the Executive Board of China Railway Chen Yun told Prime Minister Chinh that his company wants to take part in the construction of transport projects in Vietnam, such as the North - South and Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong express railways and the Hanoi metro line.

The company is now the main contractor of several urban railway projects in Hanoi, wind power projects in the central highlands’ Dak Nong province, and a tire manufacturing plant in the Mekong Delta’s Tien Giang province.

Prime Minister Chinh said infrastructure development is a strategic breakthrough for Vietnam, including transport infrastructure such as railways.

The Vietnamese Government welcomes foreign enterprises, including those from China, to expand investment and businesses in Vietnam, he said.

In a meeting with the Prime Minister, Wang Xiaojun, Deputy General Manager of Power China, spoke of his company’s activities in Vietnam and its investment plans in electricity projects and infrastructure development.

Power China ranked 100th on the Fortune Global 500 list and 29th among the top 500 Chinese enterprises in 2022.

Prime Minister Chinh spoke highly of the company’s investment expansion plans in Vietnam and proposed the company work with relevant ministries and agencies to implement projects, especially those on developing wind and solar power.
