Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has requested that localities continue implementing monetary policy in a proactive, flexible, timely, and effective manner and to focus on developing the country’s semiconductor industry.

These are among the key tasks set by the government leader while chairing a national teleconference that opened on January 5 to review the operations of the government and local administrations in 2023 and look at how to implement tasks in 2024.

Prime Minister Chinh also asked that priority be given to promoting growth, stabilizing the macro-economy, controlling inflation, ensuring major balances in the economy, and speeding up the disbursement of public investment capital.

It is also necessary to boost traditional growth drivers, such as investment, exports, and consumption, while accelerating new growth drivers, like regional connectivity, science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, green transition, and emerging industries like semiconductor chips and hydrogen, he said.

The Prime Minister directed localities to resolutely and effectively employ strategic breakthroughs, including continuing to cut and simplify administrative procedures and business conditions, accelerate construction of key national transport projects, facilitate the implementation of the National Power Development Plan VIII (PDP8), and boost human resources training.

Localities were also required to conduct economic restructuring in connection with renewing the growth model towards green and sustainable development, digital economic growth, the green economy, and the circular economy.
