Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long has signed the Prime Minister’s directive on enhancing human resource training to support the development of the semiconductor industry and core digital technology sectors.

The Directive No 43/CT-TTg, dated December 4, 2024,  aims to create breakthroughs in training and development of high-quality human resources for the semiconductor industry and core digital technology sectors such as artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, Internet of Things (IoT), big data, and blockchain.

The document instructed the Ministry of Education and Training to take immediate action by building and issuing standardized curricula for the semiconductor sector within the first quarter next year; and reviewing and proposing adjustments and supplements to mechanisms and policies on tuition fee waiver and reduction, and scholarships for those pursuing studies in these fields, with the deadline set for the fourth quarter of next year.

The ministry was required to submit quality workforce training schemes for approval, build centers to nurture talents in the 4.0 technology field, and facilitate international cooperation in training and the exchange of experts and lecturers in those fields.

The Prime Ministerial Directive asked relevant ministries, sectors, and localities to promote cooperation with schools, innovation centers, and businesses to improve training efficiency and develop human resources for the semiconductor industry and core digital technology sectors.

The People’s Committees of all centrally-run cities and provinces are required to build plans and roadmaps to develop human resources for the sectors by 2030, in line with respective local conditions; and to diversify resources for human resources development for these sectors.
