The rate of customs declarations for goods classified into the red line (conducting physical inspection of goods) dropped to 3.41% in the first six months of the year, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs (GDVS).
The rate of customs declarations classified into the yellow line (checking required documents) dropped to 30.26%.
The results fulfilled the targets set by the GDVS for 2024 to reduce the customs declarations classified into the red and yellow channels to below 5.5% and 40%, respectively.
Customs declarations are classified into three lines, namely green, yellow and red channels. Products classified for green will be exempt from physical inspection of goods and document check. Those classified into the yellow channel will be subject to document check. Meanwhile, products with legal risks will be classified into the red line for both physical inspection of goods and document check.
The achievements were attributed to many measures taken by the customs sector to facilitate businesses’ import and export activities, including promoting administrative reform, modernization and IT application, completing legal documents to facilitate the international trade; and removing difficulties and obstacles for businesses, according to the GDVS.
