Transport ministry asked to submit plans to establish expressway standards

Anh Tú -

Standards expected to help ensure transparency and efficiency in expressway projects.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha has asked the Ministry of Transport to report to the Prime Minister before November 30 on plans to build a draft set of standards for expressways.

The standards are expected to be issued in the first quarter of 2024, as requested by the Prime Minister.

In September, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh asked relevant ministries and agencies to urgently build a set of standards for expressways and take measures to ensure progress and quality in transport projects.

The issuance of standards on the construction of expressways is needed to act as a foundation for the planning, design, investment, and management of Vietnam’s expressway network, according to the Prime Minister.

They would also be used to define investment and mobilize capital for expressways, to ensure transparency and efficiency and prevent waste and corruption, he said.
